About Marked in Oak

We make personalised solid oak homeware to order in West Yorkshire — boards, coasters, house signs, memorial plaques and made-to-measure shelves.

Three things we've decided

Solid oak, and nothing else

No bamboo, no laminate, no glass, no slate. Solid European oak is more expensive and heavier, and it is the only one of those materials you can sand flat and re-oil twenty years later. We would rather make fewer things that last.

Prices on the page

An unusual amount of this trade hides its prices behind an enquiry form. We think that's a small daily discourtesy. Every price we charge will be published on the page, in plain view, before you have to speak to anyone.

Made to order, not made to stock

Every piece is cut and engraved when it is ordered. It means a lead time rather than next-day dispatch, and it means we're not warehousing timber we hope someone wants.

Where we are

West Yorkshire, England — in the valleys between Keighley and the Pennines, which is oak and millstone-grit country and has been working timber and cloth for a long time.

Status

We're building. Products aren't on sale yet, and we'd rather say so plainly than run a countdown timer. The care and comparison guides are live now and free to use.
